Working Hard, Faithfully, At American Income Life Insurance Company
New American Income Life Insurance Company President, Scott Smith, gives his words of wisdom on combining hard work and faith to create a work ethic that achieves results.
When I coached, I knew the most talented teams won. But I also knew that coaching could make a difference in getting talent to meets its potential. This, along with observation of my father when I was young instilled a very strong work ethic. I may lose, I may not achieve a goal, but it will never be because I didn’t work hard.
I have always believed that if I give my best things will work out the way they were supposed to. But when I bring faith into the equation, and this is where I believe I differ to some extent than many, I don’t believe it’s in God’s hands. Instead I believe the prerequisite for getting results is that I must do my part first. I know that when I attack the critical tasks of the day that I’m demonstrating a faith that if what I’m doing is truly important that those tasks will contribute to the success I want American Income Life and National Income Life to have. I can’t enjoy success without my team enjoying success, and American Income Life Insurance Company can’t enjoy success without my team enjoying success. Doing the tougher stuff earlier in the day gives me a confidence that carries me through the day. I know that the rest of the challenges of the day will be taken care of too; and some will even take care of themselves or be there to be tended to later.
It’s interesting to note that luck seems to follow the momentum of disciplined effort. I believe I’m here for a reason, and it’s not just to make money. It’s to encourage and support others through my words and my example.
If you work hard, and you have faith…good things will follow. No excuses.
