American Income Life All Aboard the SS Jeremiah O’Brien
When you think of historic landmarks, my guess is they’re generally on dry land. Not the case in San Francisco! Qualifying American Income Life Agents can see the famous SS Jeremiah O’Brien in its original state, stationed at Pier 45.
Sailing through History
The SS Jeremiah O’Brien is one of only two functional Liberty ships of the original 2,710 built and launched during World War II. The ship made several voyages all over the world during this time. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a National Historic Landmark*. The ship was named in honor of the first American who captured a British naval vessel in the Revolutionary War.
Bay cruises are scheduled throughout the year in which tourists can enjoy the fully functional historic ship, open to visitors daily at Pier 45 in Fisherman’s Wharf. Tourists can see everything from the engine room to the living quarters. Volunteers, some even veterans who lived on the ship, can be found throughout the hallways to help explorers navigate their way throughout the vessel. Did you know scenes and sounds from James Cameron’s Titanic were even captured for the movie aboard the SS Jeremiah O’Brien?
