Success means many wonderful, positive things. Success means personal prosperity, winning admiration and leadership. Success means freedom: freedom from worries, fears, frustrations and failures. Success means self-respect, continually finding more real happiness and satisfaction from life, being able to do more for those who depend on you.

Success means winning. Success – achievement – is the goal of life … mine, yours and every person with whom you work each and every day at American Income Life. We need to make success our goal. Success is achieved and created by winning.

Don’t make excuses. I don’t like for success or the ability to win to be held back. Now, there is a goal you should be pursuing: a dream you should be launching, a project you should be starting, a possibility you should be exploring, an opportunity you should be grabbing, an idea you should be working, a problem you should be tackling; a decision you should be making.

Now it’s time to solve the toughest problem: how to begin to win. The first thing you need for success is a progressive realization of a worthwhile goal. Now, the first thing we have to do in order to achieve success is to seek unity. We must unite, become as one, in a common effort to achieve our goals. Work together as a team, because teamwork is the essence of success. Without our common consent to work together toward common goals, your efforts will be fruitless. Unity is indeed the master key to your American Income Life success.

Another important aspect to our success is people. In fact, the very essence of our business is people. Many times we have used the phrase “we are in the people business”. We should never forget this truth. Webster defines people as “a body of persons united by a common sentiment”.

We have just discussed the value of unity, but this unity can only be complete when we add the ingredient of common sentiment. What are some of the sentiments that we hold in common? I believe one of the important ones to be income, and income can only be gained by sales. Another I believe is recognition, and recognition is gained by sales. Another is promotion, and promotion is primarily achieved by sales. Our families are important to each of us, and they are best provided for by sales. As you can see, we all have “common sentiments”, and all of them are best satisfied when we are making sales.

The next key ingredient for success is enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is absolutely imperative to success selling. To reach the kind of success you want to achieve, you must have sales each and every day, each and every week, each and every month. That is because continuous means all the time, not just once in a while. As your enthusiasm grows, so too will your results grow.

“Results are what counts” is a truth we have proven many times. Nothing can take the place of results. Excuses do not produce income. Bonuses are not made for excuses, nor is recognition. The victory we seek then is in the numbers we produce, in the results that we get, and in the action we take to achieve our goals.

We have a tremendous opportunity for success here at American Income Life. You have the opportunity to begin the second quarter as a winner. Do not let it pass you by, do not postpone it, do not turn your head and ignore it. Opportunities are ideas whose time has come. You must grab it and run with it, because as all of you know, once an opportunity has passed, we can never call it back. Now is your opportunity to win and to create the success you had hoped for.

A famous man once said “the lure of the distant and the difficult is deceptive. The great opportunity is where you are … NOW!”
