Finding my Strength with American Income Life
Carrie Kollmar of the Richard Correa Agency went from policyholder to successful Agent with American Income Life. She shared her inspiring story with us as she attended American Income Life’s Leadership Academy this week. Read it below.
Carrie Kollmar’s Succes Story
“As a client of American Income Life, having purchased a final expense policy 11 years ago through my husband’s union, I have a unique perspective as an agent; especially since I was diagnosed, two years after purchasing my policy, with stage IV breast cancer at age 34. I drove over an hour each way for weekly chemotherapy, and I struggled to stay awake at my son’s sporting events. Given 18 months to live if I did WELL in my treatment, yet having survived now 9 years epitomizes understanding the value of life insurance. As if that needed reinforcing, a drugged driver ran a red light and hit me head-on one year ago. You can bet my affairs are in order.
“Foreclosure of my home, a divorce, loss of health insurance, and now being a single parent, I was desperate to find a job. Luckily I am in remission and healthy enough to work. Unfortunately, although I was very qualified for upwards of 200 jobs for which I applied, an offer was not forthcoming.
“When American Income Life called me for an interview, I jumped at the chance to finally prove to an employer how hard and determined I am. Six months in, I am so proud of myself! I have accomplished my short-term goals, and I am headed full speed toward my long-term goals. AIL Leadership Academy in January 2014 is a pivotal point in the mindset of my career path. My MGA, my RGA, and my SGA are telling me they believe in me, in my potential, and my vision.
“I am so grateful for this opportunity, for this chance. My health is good, my determination is steadfast, and my goals are being realized one by one. American Income Life is providing me with tools to succeed in sending my children to college, caring for my elderly father who lives with me, and most importantly, proving to myself that I CAN do this. There IS no Plan B.”
